High up at an altitude of 4708 metres above sea level, Wilson Point is a favourite to watch the sunrise on crisp, cool Mahabaleshwar mornings. In fact, Wilson Point is commonly referred to as ‘Sunrise Point’ in the hill station town. Located around 2 kilometres away from the Mahabaleshwar Market, Wilson Point is named after the former governor of Bombay, Sir Leslie Wilson, who served in this role from 1923 to 1926. From this location, you have beautiful views of the entire town below.

  1. Mahabaleshwar Temple

This temple is close to 5000 years old. It is located near Arthur’s Seat and is a gorgeous ancient structure to visit. Here you can take a look at idols and wall carvings that will take you back in time. The location on which this temple is built is supposedly the source of seven rivers. Near the temple, there are many stores from which you can buy delicate handicrafts to take home. Avoid going here on the weekends as the traffic to the place can get quite hectic.

  1. Chinaman’s Falls

Located a short distance of about 2.5 kilometres from Mahabaleshwar, Chinaman’s Waterfall is named so because of the Chinese inhabitants who live around and take care of the gardens that surround the waterfalls. This waterfall is breathtaking to witness and the surrounding gardens too add to the beauty. It’s a great place for a picnic with your family – be sure to go during the monsoon.

  1. Elephant’s Head Point

At Elephant’s Head Point you can see an awesome rock formation that actually bears striking similarities to an elephant head, trunk included. From Elephant’s Head Point you will be able to gaze at the Sahyadri Mountain Range. Horse rides are available here for those who do not want to walk the one kilometre distance that is required to be covered on foot to reach. The place is open all days of the week from 9 am to 6 pm.

  1. Mahabaleshwar Wax Museum

The Mahabaleshwar Wax Museum is a fun place to visit for kids and adults alike. Though not on par with the most famous wax museums in the world, with wax figures that aren’t identical to their inspirations, it’s still a great place to have a bit of fun taking selfies with your favourite celebrities.
