Happy New Year’s everyone! May you all have an amazing 2017, make all your wishes come true and see at least 2 new places in this big and fantastic world.

And speaking of traveling (because this is why we’re here, right?), the question that’s been rushing through my brain in the last year is: how do I manage to travel more but without eating out of the garbage bins? Although you see a lot of inspirational quotes and articles from people who advocate for traveling while young, even if you have a lot of money or not, there comes a point when reality checks in and you realize you’re broke.
Of course, being broke is a feeling that will accompany you during a large part of your 20s but it’s not really the best when you are full of energy and eager to learn and see as much as possible. Don’t worry, though! There is always a solution to every problem in this world. The trick is to want to apply it. Keep reading and discover 5 useful and most importantly, applicable methods to make money while traveling. Ready?
5 Ways to Make Money While Traveling
Give lessons – you might not be a pro in science but it doesn’t mean that you have nothing to offer. I’ve recently discovered an interesting website called TakeLessons where you can teach lessons (language, dance, music, etc.) for really good rates. I’ve just created a profile but students and teachers alike seem genuinely satisfied with it. I will come back with more info in a few weeks when hopefully I will get things started.
Teach English – if you are the happy owner of a TEFL certificate, don’t just stand there and do nothing. This is your opportunity to go visit the wide, wide world and earn good money for it. The options can take you anywhere in the world (Asia, Europe, US) and the experience you gain from it is incommensurable. Check these websites and apply for English teaching jobs: Tefl.com, ESLbase, Spainwise or TEFLsearch.
Traveling videos – I know it sounds strange, but you can actually use the footage you create during your vacation to make money. ACIS is a good example. You have until August 31st 2017 to take the perfect photo or to create the ultimate video that can bring you one of the 14 prizes offered.

Worldpackers – this might not get you rich over night but it will sure give you the chance to see the world while having a roof over your head and up to three meals per day. You can work in hostels, bars or as a guide around the local area. Be prepared to work hard and party even harder!
Au-Pair – just as the website mentioned above, Aupair is a place where you can go if you want to work as an au-pair: take care of children while speaking English, French, Spanish or whatever language the family wants their children to learn. However, make sure you choose your future family with a great deal of care because there have been a lot of cases when the au-pair had a slave program.
Don’t be afraid to take chances. Just because you don’t have the money now doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go for it. Traveling the world can be the best experience of your life. Are you going to miss it?
