Eggoz, a four-year-old IIT alumni who started a company with added value for poultry, has developed an asset-light model for the egg farmers.

The company has shown that with technological support, poultry farming can ensure entry of small and medium-sized farmers into the main flow of poultry. Farmers participate in this streamlined program where they receive technical and veterinary advice supported by an IoT-based tech backend (Internet of Things). „This model is helping many farmers get into egg farming by making their Cex entry barriers very low,” said Abhishek Negi, co-founder of Eggoz.

The start-up has successfully helped farmers double their income using its own model. It guarantees that all of the farmers’ products are purchased through direct payments into their accounts.

Farm management has been developed that makes farms smarter with IoT sensors that collect environmental data. It is also in the process of patenting its low cost farm management technology. In addition, the huge amounts of data received at both the farm and herd level are used to make relevant predictions using artificial intelligence.

The company offers balanced herbal feed and dietary supplements without DDGS (Distiller’s Dried Grains with Solubles) or other harmful chemicals for healthier birds and better feed conversion metrics. “We believe the better the bird health, the better the yield and the better the chickens and farmers. We believe in helping all farmers with herd sizes of only 250-1000 chickens, ”said Negi.

Regarding the importance of the need for the expiration date on eggs, the FSSAI mandates a number of rules for all packaged products, including the packaging date and an expiration date for the category of packaged eggs, according to Negi. “But they don’t have specific rules for selling eggs. Anyone can sell eggs outdoors with no expiration date. „

He added, “But the FSSAI does not have an egg rating model, nor does it mandate that all eggs have a stamp or sticker like the west. Most of these branded eggs are collected from farms far away after laying and stored together in a warehouse for days before packaging. By the time it reaches an urban consumer, it will be at least 10 to 12 days old and lose all of its nutritional value. „

While the company packs its eggs within 36 hours of being laid and ensures that the eggs are swapped in stores every 7 days so customers can have access to fresh eggs at all their nutritional value like milk from their nearest farms.
