Harker’s Organics
As a fifth generation farmer, Harker’s Organics built his brand on BC Highway 3 in Cawston – a small rustic town in the Similkameen Valley. It consists of approximately 18 hectares of orchards and 8 hectares of soil crops, plus a greenhouse on the property. Harker’s Organics grows everything from Gala ples to 30 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes. The Open air store The property, which began as a small fruit stand decades ago, sells the farm’s seasonal organic fruits and vegetables, as well as other local organic food. It’s a great place to take a break and have a healthy snack while you travel around the region.
Harker’s Organics also has a wine tasting room on the property run by Rustic Roots Winery, where they offer a taste of their produce homemade fruit wine. Rather than growing gres, the Rustic Roots winery uses the foods that are already growing on their land to create a unique wine experience and increase sustainability.
Seven Stones Winery
This Similkameen winery is growing in Variety of gres on 20 hectares of bank land in the Similkameen Valley. The winery tasting room is located on BC Highway 3 in Cawston. While Seven Stones Winery is new to the wine scene – planting began in 2000 and 2001 – they already have a good reputation and a unique wine style. They specialize in French style wines from Chardonnay to a bold Cabernet Franc. When visiting Seven Stones Winery, this is one of the places to visit Basement towers and see where the wine is stored.
