US pet food company Hill’s Pet Nutrition will spend $ 250 million to build a new plant in its home state of Kansas.
Hill’s – a division of Colgate-Palmolive Company – said the Tonganoxie facility will create 80 jobs and help meet „growing demand for” [its] scientifically based pet nutrition ”.
Construction of the factory, which has the latest manufacturing technology, is scheduled to begin this year and be completed by 2023.
Jesper Nordengaard, President of Hill’s, said in a statement: “Hill’s Pet Nutrition looks forward to expanding our Kansas roots. We have been part of the community for nearly 80 years and this new facility will help us fulfill our mission of enriching and extending the special relationships between people and their pets by offering our quality nutrition. ”
Hill’s said it selected the site for its „excellent location, access to a talented and diverse pool of employees, a strong and welcoming community, and proximity to dealers and suppliers.”
The Tonganoxie facility will join four additional Hill manufacturing facilities in the United States, including facilities in Emporia and Topeka, Kansas. Topeka is also home to Hill’s global headquarters and Pet Nutrition Center.
