Europe is one of the most fascinating places in the world. In fact every place has its own special charm, but where there is charm there are also stereotypes. Some of them are funny, others are a bit disturbing and there are some that are very frustrating because they are half true and half stupid things perpetuated by uneducated people.
Are you a bit curious to discover some of the most popular stereotypes? Since I can only speak on behalf of my country I will try to observe these stereotypes and tell if you I’ve ran into them or not. Probably yes!
Check out the following infographics!
Europe according to the US
I’m surprised the US knows where Romania is on the map.

Europe according to Austria
Just handbags? You Austrians are lucky. Don’t complain for a bag, others had it worse!

Europe according to Great Britain
Do you know the famous documentary The Romanians are Coming? Watch it and you will understand why immigrants is a mild word used here to depict Romanians.

Europe according to Bulgaria
Don’t get too cocky Bulgaria. You might have your Golden Sands but your reputation is not as clean and nice in Romania either.

Europe according to France
This is from 2009 so probably the Romanian gypsies were not spread all over France yet.

Europe according to Germany
Finally a country that doesn’t see Romania as filled of poor people and thieves. They just think we’re vampires. Such an upgrade!

Europe according to Greece
I’ve been to Greece, I know Greek people and I have friends who have lived there. I love their style of life but I really doubt they are entitled to call Romanians vandals.

Europe according to Italy
Seems about right!

Europe according to Poland
And the gypsies I previously mentioned.

All in all, I have heard worse stereotypes regarding Romanians. I was asked if we have Internet, hot water, if the capital is Budapest or if we know Dracula. But those who visit Romania get a chance to see that it’s not that bad and that in fact we have a tone of beautiful places.
