Join Barry & Corinne as they arrive amidst the hustle & bustle of Tokyo. Share their confusion as they learn how to cope with the highly automated transportation system, stay in traditional inns & enjoy Japanese cooking. They take a city tour, experience a traditional tea ceremony & visit the fish market at 5:00 AM before taking one of the world’s fastest trains for a 3 week journey. They start in Nikko, resting place of Japan’s most famous shogun and continue on to Sado Island, home of the world’s oldest opoerated gold mine & the famous Kodo drummers. Next, they stoll through Japan’s most beautiful gardens at Kanazawa before arriving at Fukui, to be met by Corinne’s relatives. This was her first ever visit to her ancestral home. Barry & Corinne experience real country life of a traditional Japanese family. They help to cut rice by hand, visit a sake factory, drop in on a retirement home & learn how to make soba noodles. Their bullet train streaks on to Kyoto, Japan’s ancient imperial capital, with over 2000 shrines & temples. Then, on to Nagoya, with it’s famous castle & finally, Yokohama, San Diego’s oldest sister city.
